In 1990, due in large part to the chair- man of the Genealogical Society in Vörå, John Långs, funds were solicited from various sources, including the Swedish Cultural Fund, the Ministry of Education, and the Finnish parliament. With these funds, the Genealogical Society in Vörå purchased an old bank building to be used as a cultural center.

Today Vörå Kulturhus is the home to the Genea- logical Socie- ty. The buil- ding is used for member- ship meetings, genealogical research courses, and housing for archived materials and records. It is also home to the
Vörå Emigration Center, which assists persons searching for ancestral roots in Finland and looking for descendants of persons who emigrated from Finland.
